Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
Also known as: Nielsen's 8th Heuristic
Remove irrelevant information so users can focus on what matters and complete their job.
Aesthetic and Minimalist Design is Nielsen's 8th Usability Heuristic, but it's not about making things pretty. It's about eliminating noise so users can focus on what matters. Every extra element competes for attention and kills task completion. In JTBDUX terms, this means removing anything that doesn't directly help the user make progress on their job. The design should be as simple as possible while still enabling the functional, emotional, and social dimensions of the job.
