Behavioral Loop

A repeating cycle of cue, action, and reward that forms habits around a product.

A behavioral loop is the mechanism by which products become sticky. It consists of three parts: a cue (something that triggers the behavior), an action (the user engaging with the product), and a reward (the progress or relief the user experiences). Products that build strong behavioral loops get rehired automatically. Products that don't require conscious re-decision every time, which introduces friction and abandonment risk.
