JTBD as Framework

Using Jobs-to-be-Done as a structured methodology with defined steps, tools, and outputs for product teams.

JTBD as a framework means operationalizing the Jobs-to-be-Done lens into repeatable processes: switch interviews, workaround audits, the timeline interview, job story workshops, and the desperation-relief spectrum as a prioritization tool. Unlike JTBD as a lens (a mental model anyone can apply), JTBD as a framework requires training, facilitation, and team adoption. The framework is most valuable when a product team needs systematic, scalable ways to discover and validate jobs across multiple products or markets. The risk is framework fatigue: teams that follow the steps without understanding the lens produce generic job stories and miss the real insights.
