Situation Trigger

The specific circumstance or context that causes a user to recognize they have a job to be done.

A situation trigger is the moment when context makes a job visible. It is not a product feature or a marketing message; it is a real-world event: a deadline approaches, a report is due, a client complains, a competitor launches. Situation triggers are why the same person can ignore a product for months and then urgently need it overnight. Understanding situation triggers helps product teams design for the moments when users are most receptive, and helps marketers reach users at the exact moment the job becomes conscious.
