Ask Me Anything (Anti-Pattern)

Also known as: Ask Me Anything

The worst first-turn UX for AI: dumping unlimited possibility on a user who doesn't know what to ask.

'Ask me anything' is the anti-pattern of AI-native UX. It places the burden of intent formation entirely on the user, who may not know what the AI can do, what it does well, or what they should ask. It triggers decision paralysis and anxiety. Better first turns include: suggesting common tasks, showing what the AI can do with a real example, or asking the user to choose a mode before prompting. The first turn should reduce cognitive load, not increase it.
